100th Anniversary

1907 - 2007

In September 2007 the 2nd Coatbridge Scout Group will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary and have just held a reunion. The night was a great success and I have to thank everyone who came along for attending. The night was on Saturday 15th in Drumpellier Golf Club. We had old members of the group, beavers, cubs, scouts, ventures, leaders, helpers, and committee come along. The night started with the registration, introduction and welcome from Bill Craig. Grace was shared from Mairi Marshall before dinner waas served. After dinner the enteertainment began with Jim Aitchison providing a short movie made from the group a few years ago... After that Gary Patterson had a presentation of the scouts centenery camp to Kandersteg, Switzerland. The leaders of the group then presented Bill Craig with a "thank you" for his help and service over his 45 years with the group. Jim Aitchison finished with the vote of thanks and everyone joined with singing the troop song.

A great night im sure everyone would agree.

It gave me great pleasure to read of the 100th anniversary of the group . I was

formerly a Cub, then a Scout, in the group in the early sixties, and i remember

those days with much fondness. The group provided me with a host of life

skills, which i was soon to use upon leaving the group in my Royal Navy career.

Please, pass on my warm regards to all of your young people, and to yourselves,

for keeping this fantastic organisation going and providing modern youngsters

with such solid building blocks for the future.

My warmest reagrds to you all

I thought it was a super evening and really enjoyed meeting people I hadn't met

for, in some cases, nearly forty years. Many thanks for organising it.
