New Beaver Section Starting
We are pleased to announce that we have a new beaver section starting on a Monday night. This is due to the huge waiting list we have for the Tuesday night beavers. We now have two new leaders willing to take the challenge!! Leeann and Mandy will be starting on Monday 5th February from 6.30pm – 7.30pm. If you know of anyone interested in joining then give Leeann a call on 07718996053 or turn up on the night. The beavers are aged between 6 – 8 years.
Capitation fees
It has come to the time of year for the annual census and this also means the payment of capitation fees. This year’s fee will be £22 per child and an additional £18 for a 2nd child. I am asking if this year you could pay the amount in full if possible or if you would prefer to pay the amount up each week then please can you let me know, thanks. I should mention, the £23 pays for the subscription and insurance of your child for 1 year. This is essential and everyone must pay the amount, even the leaders have to. Cheques can be made payable to 2nd Coatbridge Scout Group.
Group Photograph
On Tuesday 5th December the 3 sections got together for a group photograph. We arranged for a photographer to come to the hall and take the picture. The kids were all really well behaved and managed to sit still, eventually. The pictures will be made into calendars for parent to buy when we go back in the New Year. The cost will be £2.00. We felt that this was a good way to kick start our groups 100th anniversary celebrations. Please see a leader about buying the calendar.
Christmas Dinner 2006
This year ended with our usual Christmas dinner which took place on Thursday 14th December 2006. It was a great night, with all the patrols, leaders and guests enjoying the meal, a total of 42 people to be exact. Once the dinner was complete it was down to business with the presentation of the main awards for the year. Some of the achievements included, 50 night’s away badges, new PL’s and APL’s, 10 boys managed to achieve their Zodiac Bronze award and 1 boy getting the Silver Zodiac. The winning patrol of the district camping competition for 2006 was also presented, well done to all. The main award for the night was the Addie Bigger Shield. The kids work towards this throughout the year, and this year it was won by Allan Law and the Tiger patrol, great work and well deserved I must say. Another special mention must go to both Allan and Gavin who were presented with their Chief Scout Gold award. The 2 boys have worked extremely hard to gain this and are well deserved. The boys now leave the group and we wish them all the success in the future. Maureen Black was presented with the Leadership award for all her commitment and hard work throughout the year, hats off to you Maureen. Lots of success, achievement and hard work have went into the group throughout 2006 and let’s hope for the same in 2007.
